I was originally going to title this post “Blake Lively looks lovely in Marchesa,” but I didn’t, because I’m still not entirely sure that that’s true. But one thing always is: she is tall. Really tall, especially in heels.
I’m kind of conflicted over this dress, which Blake wore to the New York premiere of Where the Wild Things Are, in the same way that I was kind of conflicted when I saw Marchesa’s Spring 2010 collection when it debuted a few weeks ago. On the one hand: beautiful attention to detail, extremely luxe materials, the audacity to use feathers. On the other hand: Icecapades. It’s a little figure skater-y, right? All of the signs are there: it’s really short, it has a lot of movement around the hips, the bodice looks like it’s supposed to be slightly risque but is actually held tightly in place and is not revealing anything.
I think that the Gossip Girl costumers should take note, though: it’s possible to make Blake Lively look like something other than an expensive hooker. She can also look like a figure skater.

I think this is a very fitting dress to wear to “Where the Wild Things Are”, because, well, it’s WILD. I like the feathers, as I have seen some great renditions of feather dresses and garments, but I have to say, I am not sure that the fit of this one is the most flattering.

In my opinion, that is one awful dress.

She is a tall girl who would look much better in long classic dresses… Maybe she should check out other stylish tall actresses like Nicole Kidman for her inspiration. I really dont care for her regular boob-baring, leg-baring outfits.
