Bullets 4 Peace pendants spell airport trouble for stars

spl131325_001Who knew that jewelry could get you searched at the airport? It can – if the jewelry happens to be from the star-favorite line Bullets 4 Peace, that is. The line, designed by former Israeli soldier Rafi Anteby, is made out of real machine gun shells as a way to bring attention to wars being fought all over the world. The pendants have been worn publicly by a whole slew of celebrities – Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg and The Jonas Brothers, to name a few.

The problem with wearing them to travel is that you’re not allowed to take ammunition of any type on an airplane or through an airport, and that creates some unfortunate delays at aviation security checkpoints. Despite being adorned with things like skulls, inscriptions, and even pavé diamonds, the pendants have still been confiscated as potentially dangerous; one airline security staff let the wearer bring the necklace on the plane, so long as it could be locked in the cockpit with the pilot during the flight. I wonder if he secretly wore it while he flew the plane?

Um, those are cool and all (at least their message is) but they don’t look like weaponry. To me they remind me of something the guy in high school who thought he was a warlock might wear!! Fantastical!!!!

These bitches don’t fly commercial do they? What do they care.

Some of them do! I was on a flight with Jermaine Dupri one time, and we see lots of paparazzi shots of stars going through airport security.

I can assure you that pilots don’t give a rat’s ass about fashion. If you want to see a workplace where function rules over form, take a look at a cockpit.

I think they are kind of cool. They are priced very high for what they are though…
