With how many great bags the girls at Gossip Girl get to carry, we might as well just turn this into a fan site. I’m pretty sure we could run it based on pictures of them alone. I myself am a pretty big fangirl, and the fact that they wear such great stuff is a big part of it for me. That’s why when pictures of Leighton Meester, nee Blair Waldorf, sporting a Notting Hill Design Westbourne Tote first surfaced, we had to address it over at PurseBlog. And now, we want to bring your attention to it. The designers at Notting Hill Design haven’t been making bags for long, but their contribution is already notable – they make the Westbourne tote in a variety of exotic and non-exotic leathers and a rainbow of colors. The attention to detail is formidable and if they keep making handbags like this, we’ll see them around for a long time to come.

I think the entire handbag/purse craze is on a downward spirl. My girlfriend is one of the floor managers for Bloomingdale’s/Lexington Av-NYC and she says that sales are down more than 60% and the have decreased the open-to-buy for this department by approximately 40%. Slowly but surely the cosmetic giants will be taking back the square footage. I guess it was fun while it lasted…

Awesome bag, as it should be for $3000. Does anyone really buy this stuff anymore? Given the state of the state of things I’d think anyone with half a brain would buy this stuff when it goes on sale for 60-70%, as it surely will. Take a walk through Macys and Bloomies and you will see almost all handbags on *Sale*. I would not want to be in the bag biz right now. Nor in the furture for that matter. I think the media has done a pretty good job of exposing this for what it is: $20 worth of scraps stitched together with some flashy hardware and then a designer name attached and priced at thousands of dollars. No sir, those days are over. We, the general public are smarter than that now, more keen to what is happening and more penny wise!

I still think it’s a gorgeous bag and can only dream of it with a $3000 price tag.
