Posted In Lady GaGa on November 25th, 2009

Earlier today, I posted on PurseBlog about a designer for which I’m thankful. And then I got to thinking…if I’m going to talk about fashion icons that make me thankful to be in this business, then I can’t not mention my personal favorite goddess of celeb style, Lady Gaga.
In a fashion world where so much of our consciousness is overtaken by under-talented generic starlets wearing the same It Bags and Louboutins (nothing against Loubs, I love ‘em, but so does Heidi Montag), Lady Gaga is a breath of fresh air. When everyone is wearing Herve Leger bandage dresses, she’s the one wearing a Jean-Charles de Castelbajac dress made from muppet carcasses.
She’s the person that looked at a teacup and decided it as a viable accessories choice, and she’s still the only person I’ve seen attempt to wear the crazy Alexander McQueen claw shoes from Spring 2010 (and she totally owned them). So, Gaga, I’m thankful for you and all your fashion hijinks. You make the fashion world a more interesting place to be.
Whose star style are you thankful for?

I’m thankful for Lady GaGa and Gwen Stefani. :)

I’m definitely NOT thankful for Lady GaGa – sorry! Just because someone is willing to make a spectacle of herself doesn’t make her a style icon in my book.
I don’t think she makes the style world an interesting place to be – I think she’s ridiculous looking.
As far as a style icon…I’d agree with Gwen Stefani, Demi Moore, Nicole Richie, Fergie, Eva Longoria, etc., etc., etc..

Lady Gaga looks like a sci-fi character, if not a cartoon character.

I’m sorry, but Lady Gaga is a moderate talent who is willing to look and act so off the wall to attract attention. And she is doing a heck of a job attracting attention….but 10 years from now people will be looking at the style and talent and wonder what the heck they were thinking when they got so caught up in Gaga.

Boo, you people are boring. I’m so sick of looking at bland stars all wearing the same thing.

There’s a big difference between looking edgy and dressing in the dark (in this case, Halloween costumes)….designer pieces or otherwise.

Umm….I’d rather be boring than have to look at Lady GaGa – I think she tries WAY too hard to be so bizarre – what’s wrong with blazing talent combined with tasteful (or even slightly off-the-wall) clothing?
She’s a flash in the pan. That act has been done better before she came on the scene.

yeah well she is amazing and extremely intelligent. unlike most singers these days her voice sounds the same in concert and live AND she writes her own songs. SO GET OFF HER BACK.
