SJP totes an ironically printed Gucci
It really is ironic- this Gucci purse has a picture of a snowman in a decidedly warm climate printed on it. But it’s not all senseless, you know; the print is meant to honor a new children’s book by Micheal Roberts entitled “Snowman in Africa”. The bag was created for the 2009 Gucci Campaign to Benefit UNICEF, and all proceeds from the book will go to UNICEF. Snowmen traipsing around the jungles of Africa is somewhat contrary to logic, but I can appreciate it. I have an overly active imagination, after all, and my love of prints makes me a fan of this whimsical bag.
The bag is a little confusing, though. Why is the snake wrapped around the benevolent snowman? Is the snake protecting him from the warmth of the tropics? Perhaps he is preparing the squeeze him, or take a bite of his scrumptious carrot nose? Sarah Jessica Parker’s cold-weather outfit showcases the bright bag, and shows that she supports charity through fashion- a wonderful match, as the consumers get to buy fun items while simultaneously helping someone in need. In my opinion, that is sort of not the point of charity, but it’s also thinking outside the box, which I’m all for.
