Everyone is at Cannes, so let’s talk about Fearne Cotton’s Mulberry bag
The Cannes Film Festival and I have a love-hate relationship. On the one hand, stars spend a week doing nothing but wearing amazing dresses to film premieres and parties, which makes for a lot of clothes porn, particularly when someone as sartorially skilled as Diane Kruger is a jury member. On the other hand, red carpets usually mean tiny, anonymous handbags if we’re lucky, and generally, no bags at all. Every time I open our photo site to pick out pictures to write about, all I find is all Cannes and no bags. It seems like every single A or B list actress in the world is there, and perhaps even half of the C list.
In order to actually have something to talk about until everyone’s back to milling around LA for the summer, let’s consider Brit TV host Fearne Cotton and her burgundy Mulberry Del Rey Bag. I have no particular opinion of Cotton because I don’t watch British TV, but whenever I come across pictures of her, she looks stylish and is generally carrying something fun, often from Mulberry. I’m not a big fan of the Del Rey bag, and Mulberry may have gone all-in on the would-be It Girl too quickly by naming a bag after her before her widely-panned album even dropped, but everyone makes mistakes. Fearne probably got the bag gratis from Mulberry, so I can’t really fault her for it. The Del Rey is perfectly unoffensive and ordinary, but for a piece marketed so thoroughly, it really should have been more of a standout.
