Lana Del Rey carries Yves Saint Laurent to take the subway

So here’s someone we haven’t talked about yet: Lana Del Rey. People have strong opinions about her! As much as the whole Brooklyn hipster affectation that her marketing team has created is annoying and maybe a bit insulting to her the intelligence of music fans everywhere (she’s actually the daughter of a rich tech investor and a former boarding school kid, and no, her lips ain’t real), and as vicariously embarrassing as her recent awful SNL performance was…I kind of dig her album. I don’t know why, and I’m a little ashamed to like it, but I do. Score one for her marketing team, I suppose.

Now that more people know who she is, we’re going to probably see a lot more photos of Del Rey like these, which were snapped of her buying a Metrocard and getting on the subway in New York. She’s toting a red Yves Saint Laurent Cabas Chyc Tote, but otherwise Lana seems to be doing her best to look like any other utterly ridiculous resident of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. That fits, I suppose; a lot of those people are spoiled rich kids too. As snarky as I’m prone to being about her, though, I’m still going to restart her album on iTunes when I finish writing this post. Sigh.
