Nicki Minaj celebrates New York Fashion Week with blue Chanel

Is there any more appropriate visual representation of the foofaraw that is New York Fashion Week than rapper Nicki Minaj? I think not. She’s colorful, in-your-face, over-the-top, unrelenting and begging to be noticed, just like most of the people, both designers and showgoers alike, inside the tents at Lincoln Center. Ms. Minaj and the fashion industry are a match made in heaven.

It’s no surprise, then, that fashion has embraced her with open arms. From sitting next to Anna Wintour at the Carolina Herrera show last season to hosting this season’s week-closing MAC Viva Glam party with a blue Chanel Quilted Tote on her arm, Minaj is like a walking, talking embodiment of the maximalist aesthetic that the industry currently loves. Down to her blue and green suede Giuseppe Zanotti Platform Sandals, she looks like someone who was born for fashion.
