When you’re Linda Evangelista, what do you carry to court? Chanel, of course.

Not to be glib, but being in a bitter, highly publicized court battle with the CEO of one of the world’s largest luxury goods conglomerates must have its sartorial challenges. Supermodel Linda Evangelista has been in New York Family Court this week, trying to iron out child support payments from baby daddy and PPR CEO Francois-Henri Pinault (better known in the US as Mr. Salma Hayek), and so far, she’s been careful not to obviously wear the fruits of any of Pinault’s labors.

When you consider all the brands which PPR wholly or partly owns – Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta, among others – avoiding them in a supermodel’s closet starts to seem a little more difficult. After all, if Evangelista dated Pinault for a serious amount of time, she’d probably still have lots of freebies hanging around. Here, though, it seems as though she’s successfully supporting his competitors by carrying a Chanel Classic Flap Bag and what I’m fairly sure is a Celine Floral Blazer.
