Drew Barrymore's Bags and Style

Drew Barrymore may be my favorite actress. She’s not particularly highly regarded as an artist, but Drew tends to choose projects that are fun and enjoyable without being too saccharine-sweet. Also, I can watch Never Been Kissed anytime, anywhere, and I don’t care what that says about me as a person.

I can’t wait to see her new movie Going the Distance since I have a bit of a crush on her real-life and on-screen boyfriend Justin Long as well. They were both looking adorable at the film’s premiere, particularly Drew in a beautiful, subtly patterned Catherine Malandrino gown and Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo Suede Pumps. She’s absolutely glowing in these photos, and the movie doesn’t look too bad either.

Drew Barrymore absolutely dazzled on the red carpet of the 2010 Golden Globe Award Show wearing an Atelier Versace champagne silk gown. This gown completely hugged Drew’s fabulous curves in all of the right places. Personally, I love the embellishments along the shoulder of the dress, but could do without those along the hip. Once again, that’s just me.

While it’s hard to see anything but her gown, Drew also wore Jimmy Choo Zena Platform Sandals and carried a Roger Vivier Boite de Nuit clutch in Rose Gold and topped everything off with Lorraine Schwrtz jewels.

Drew took away the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television. As if Drew needed any more glitz for the night, she topped the evening off with that shiny award.

If you were sitting here with me right now you would see me shaking my head in bewilderment and disgust. What the heck is Drew Barrymore wearing? Her entire look is hideous, simply hideous. Drew’s sense of style has gone all over the place and of course that means there are certain styles I like more than others. This is one I am loathing.

Ok, so I think the best thing to do is deconstruct her look. The Converse high-tops she has on are sloppy to the point that it looks like she could actually walk right out of them. Her jeans are fine so is the knee-length sweater she has on. The t-shirt underneath the sweater doesn’t help the look but I can also deal with it. However, the sunglasses and hat, like the shoes, have got to go. I like the pink bag she is carrying, but I can’t see much of it. Yet, the pink of the bag and the pink of the sunglasses don’t work well together and actually end up working against one another. The 2009 Emmy Awards were a force to be reckoned with. There were gorgeous gowns, flawless faces and admirable actors. But of all the things I remember, it was the known actors/actresses that continued to walk down that red carpet. For those of you who watched the awards you know that some of the celebs in attendance have seen their highs and lows. Drew Barrymore has been associated to her fair share of great movies, sticky situations and datable dudes. No matter what she’s been through, she knew how to pick out a gorgeous gown!

Drew wore a fabulous strapless gown by Monique Lhuillier. This gown boasted blush/rose tone hues, a structured bodice and a full skirt with just the faintest hint of beading. Ok, while I love the dress itself, I personally would like to see Drew wearing this dress in a shade that doesn’t mimic her skin tone quite so similarly. The dress is fabulous, Drew looks beyond glam, but the coloring is my one hangup. She carried the Raven Kauffman “Drew” Clutch… coincidence, I think not.

One of the things I hate the most is when I cannot identify a bag. I’ve exhausted all my resources and I still can’t ID the bag that Drew Barrymore is carrying. I wrote about her a bit ago and the new film she is going to star in: Going the Distance.

Just like the first time I wrote about Drew in the same sort of sequence, I love her. I really do. I love her attitude, her style, the way that she’s battled adversity… everything! Why can’t I figure out what bag she is carrying? Why?

This time though, I am not a fan of her entire look. The shirt might be ok with a different pair of pants. The bag and shoes I can handle but those pants – they kill me!

Drew Barrymore had me at E.T. I’ve always and I mean always have loved Drew. Even when she was in the midst of her grunge/drugs/booze days, I have and always will be on team Drew. Then, as she came out of that daze, she just continued to churn out great movie after great movie. Sure, they are mostly romantic comedies and tons of them are with funny man Adam Sandler.

Yet, there is something else I really enjoy… Drew’s hippie chick vibe. In fact, quite a few of her looks remind me of something Kate Hudson would wear. Sure they are two completely different people, but you might be able to see where I am coming from.

Well, Drew is back on set and filming is going on for the movie Going the Distance. And yet again I love her look. I realize that some stylists threw it together, but at the same time I could see her wearing this on her own. My only issue… we can’t figure out the bag she is carrying! At one point I thought it might be Chloe, but I am just not sure. What do you think? View the Gallery →
