Kate Hudson is the last person I expected to see carrying Nina Ricci

A lot of the time, a celebrity and the handbag she’s carrying make sense. Kim Kardashian carries lots of Birkins because she’s all about flaunting her wealth, Miranda Kerr carries a lot of Celine and Prada because her style is more in line with fashion people than celebrities, the Olsens carry a lot of vintage bags and It Bags before they catch on because they tend to set trends rather than follow them. As for Kate Hudson, I don’t see her make appearances on paparazzi sites all that often, but if I had to imagine what type of bag I’d expect her to carry, it’d be something that fits her luxe-hippie public persona. Perhaps one of those embellished, patchworked Simone Camille bags, or something made of brown suede and trimmed in fringe.

The last thing I expected Hudson to carry was something like the Nina Ricci Liane Leather Satchel. Nina Ricci is an old school Parisian label with a very clear bent toward traditional Parisian femininity, which isn’t the aesthetic ideal that I think of when I picture Hudson. That’s the nice thing about accessories, though; you can step outside of your generalized comfort zone without committing fully to a head-to-toe reversal of your normal look.

Kate Hudson, again, with Louis Vuitton

Is it just me, or has Kate Hudson caught the Louis Vuitton bug lately? It was just five days ago that we saw her wearing an enormous Vuitton shawl, and now she’s back again, this time with one of the brand’s handbags.

I’m having a hard time placing exactly which bag this might be, however. It’s clearly Vuitton, but it’s either a bag that is not yet on their website or one that came out in seasons past that I’m simply failing to remember. Or maybe it’s a current season bag that has sold out and I’m simply having, as Jessica Simpson would say, a brain fart. All of those are distinct possibilities.

UPDATE: Actually, I found it! It’s the Louis Vuitton Monogram Antheia Hobo, which is made out of lambskin. I’m betting that these bags are totally amazing in person.

Kate Hudson goes vixen in Vuitton

Wow! I certainly wasn’t expecting this look from Kate Hudson. I’m not saying it is a bad thing, but I usually think of Kate in softer hues. So, I was a bit surprised to see her looking like such a vixen at the after-party for her upcoming movie, “The Killer Inside Me”.

Kate attended the after-party at Club Avenue in NYC looking absolutely amazing. Her dress and jacket are Louis Vuitton. The darker colors contrast beautifully against her sparkly and gorgeous Cartier jewelry. In fact, the more I look at these pictures, the more she appears to be playing up the cameras based off of how she is dressed. Her facial expressions are usually soft and feminine (while she wears clothes that mirror this), yet here, she shows off her sexy, vixen and potential bad-girl side.

Kate Hudson fringes out with Ralph Lauren

Kate Hudson is one fashionable mom. As fashionable as she is, I have to say I was happiest when she finally cut her son, Ryder’s, hair. It was so long and ridiculous that I was just hoping and wishing that she’d cut his hair. So, yes, finally she did. Unfortunately I don’t have those images to share with you, but I do have these.

Kate was spotted looking casually fashionable while munching on an apple. This happens to be one of my favorite looks; so much so that I cannot figure out which item is my favorite. I love her Smythe jacket and Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses the most. Her Ralph Lauren fringe shoulder bag isn’t that bad, but it’s not my favorite. But, what about you? What’s your favorite item?

Stella McCartney, Liv Tyler and Kate Hudson all in Stella McCartney designs

There is a bit of a common theme here. Celebs who attended the 2010 Costume Institutes Gala and happened to be wearing the same designer (not same dress per-say) pose for photo-opts together.

Here we have designer Stella McCartney, Liv Tyler and Kate Hudson all in Stella McCartney designs. Stella wore a black one-sleeved satin dress from her 2010 collection along with a pair of strappy heels. Liv also wore a mullet organza dress over a nude burgundy dress from Fall 2010, Fred Leighton jewels and Roger Vivier heels. Kate showed off some leg in her Stella McCartney gown with dazzling sparkle embroidery and that oh-so high slit. Kate also wore Fred Leighton jewelry, carried a Roger Vivier clutch and wore Casadei shoes.

Of all the Stella McCartney looks, which is your favorite?

Kate Hudson does drama justice at the 2010 SAG Awards

Now *this* is the kind of drama that I like. Kate Hudson was absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous at the 2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Kate wowed photographers, fans and colleagues in her amazing white Emilio Pucci gown. From the front, you can’t really see anything that is all that interesting. You might be able to catch a hint of the sparkly silver inserts along the sides but otherwise, nothing all that special. Yes, the gown is form fitting, but it isn’t until Kate turns around that you see the drama that I am talking about. This backless dress is absolutely stunning. While Kate is very slim, she is also rather athletic so her back looks amazing. I also love the jewel that hangs down the middle of her back. Kate’s look is 100% knock-out.

2010 Golden Globes: Kate Hudson in Marchesa

Kate Hudson has been on a white gown kick lately. She has been spotted a couple times recently wearing a white gown. Perhaps it is one of her favorite colors because she and her stylist team decided to rock a white gown to the 2010 Golden Gold Award Show last night.

Kate looks stunning in her white Marchesa strapless silk crepe gown. The top of the gown is a bit too over the top for me, but it looks like Kate was willing to take a shot and it might actually have worked for her. With the top of her gown being so out there and noticeable, I am glad that she opted for minimal jewels. Certainly they are shinny, but not overwhelming. And finally, Kate chose Casadei’s Signature 3504 triple platform pumps to slip on.

Kate Hudson swings a Bird Tote over her shoulder

Kate Hudson So, what’s the deal, are Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez officially broken up or not? Perhaps they are on a break? In fact, as intrigued I am about their relationship status, I am as intrigued by the wide range of men Kate has been linked to. The wide range of interests that some of her men have had is sort of astounding. But hey, to each their own.

Kate was recently spotted wearing virtually a summer dress, UGG boots and carrying a gorgeous exotic handbag. It looks as though this Bird Handbag Python Lady is Kate’s go to bag when she is in LA. She’s been spotted carrying this same bag before while wearing a different summer dress. I love this handbag though. I want one of my own! Perhaps when Kate’s done with it, she’ll let me use it for a while.

Kate Hudson goes with blue, almost all blue

Kate Hudson Ever since Kate Hudson began dating Alex Rodriguez, I’ve noticed a change in her attire. For the most part, I’ve come to grips with the fact that I have to say goodbye to boho-chic Kate and hello to sophisticated Kate. While I am ok with change, I am not sure how I feel about this.

It’s not that Kate can’t pull off the sophisticated look, I mean, check her out in these pictures. Other than on the red carpet, I can’t remember the last time that I saw Kate look so, so, so… grown up. I wonder if A-Rod has anything to do with this change.

The black and blue combo is slowly starting to grow on me. I wasn’t always a fan of it because it sort of reminds me of a bruise. However, Kate looks simply stunning with her blue suit, black shirt, shoes and sunnies. Kate paired her outfit with two Jack Vartanian pieces, the white gold fringe necklace and the aqua marine ring. I actually love her clutch and while I can’t decide exactly what it is, I am leaning towards Judith Leiber. So, which Kate do you prefer: bohemian or sophisticated?

Kate Hudson carries Stella McCartney with A-Rod

Kate Hudson Stella McCartney 9Did you know that Alex Rodriguez has not one but two painting of him as a centaur in his bedroom? Is that not the most hilariously wonderful thing you’ve ever heard? His ex-girlfriend gave that little tidbit of info to one of the New York papers, and I can’t remember which one, but it has New York Post written all over it, don’t you think?

Anyway, what do you think his new main squeeze Kate Hudson thinks about those paintings? She’s dated lots of famous men before, and a lot of famous men are egomaniacs, so maybe she wasn’t surprised by it? Maybe it’s par for the celeb dating course? Hard to say. But if his World Series performance is any indication, maybe he should keep her around. And I definitely think she should keep her Stella McCartney Chain-Detail Tote around – not only is it beautiful and trendy, but it’s also completely free of animal products.

Kate Hudson, an Alexander McQueen fan?

Kate Hudson Alexander McQueen 1Well color me surprised. Kate Hudson is one of the last people I would expect to see embrace fashion’s current industrial trends, yet here she is dong just that. It’s not that I feel this way because I don’t think Kate follows fashion – I do. But her style has always seemed so feminine/bohemian to me, and industrial is the antithesis of those things.

However, here we see her carrying a Alexander McQueen Faithful Tote, a bag that we talked about previously on PurseBlog as one of the key pieces for fall’s trends. Well played, Kate. Although she doesn’t look particularly pleased to be carrying it here. If you’re not sure if you like it, hun, give it to me! I’ll be happy to wear it every day with a smile. Also, I’d be willing to take A-Rod off your hands, as long as he promises not to talk much. So, m’dear, do we have a deal?

Kate Hudson Chooses Bird

Kate HudsonAh, there we go. In my last post on Kate Hudson I lamented the absence of her wonderfully quirky, boho style, and here it is again… but in a small amount. Baby steps, Kate. I do hope you’ll get back there.

But one thing that does scream boho sophisticate is her Bird Handbag Python Lady. We’ve featured the Lady on PurseBlog; Kate Hudson and Megs both have the same Bird Handbags Ostrich Lady in Cognac. So it seems that these Bird Ladies are catching. Buy one, must buy another. They certainly do look awesome, with that uncultivated and careless look of a bag that is just too cool to care (yes, I did just infer that bags have feelings. Ah, well). Or let’s just take that to mean the owner is too cool.

And everything about Kate’s outfit kind of suggests that. White lacy dress? Check. Tan boots? Check. Coffee cup? That’s right. When you have this kind of bohemian style, or are getting back in the groove, this is what you wake up and throw on. Cue applause.
