Khloe Kardashian's Bags and Style

Last week we saw Khloe Kardashian take her red Hermes Birkin down the red carpet, but she took it out for a spin again on Friday, and this time, we got an even better look at it. If all stars would carry their handbags in front of them, in the crooks of their arms, at all times, then my job would be a lot easier and we’d all have more bags to drool over.

Thankfully Khloe complied with my wishes this time, and in doing so, she proved what we already knew – the bag is gorgeous. Red pigments aren’t as opaque as those in other shades, which can make a perfect red leather hard to come by, but this one is nothing less than outfit-stealing. Of course it is; Hermes doesn’t settle for anything less. As a result, I barely even noticed what else Khloe’s wearing, even though she generally looks pretty good. I’m too distracted by all that Hermes loveliness.

A red Hermes Birkin on a red carpet? That’s what Kardashian heaven looks like, you guys. I’m certain of it. Because it’s Khloe Kardashian toting said Birkin, though, I’ll keep my shade to a minimum. You guys know she’s my favorite.

Why Khloe’s my favorite should be fairly obvious from these photos. She’s wearing a chic wrap dress that is not only her correct size, but it’s also long enough to account for the fact that she’s taller than average. Her Christian Louboutin Suede Pumps? They aren’t even out yet, but they look great with the outfit. The red in the Birkin and the red in the carpet clash a little bit, but hey, what are you going to do? Khloe certainly didn’t pick the carpet.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Khloe Kardashian is by far my favorite member of the reality TV clan that everyone loves to hate. Not only does Khloe have a great sense of humor, but she seems to be the most human of her sisters. She even looks like a normal person at the airport, a place that her sisters and mom (but especially Kim) tend to use as an opportunity to don their favorite pair of heels and tightest pair of pants. Who wants to travel like that?

Not Khloe, obviously. In these photos, she looks like how most regular folks do when they go to the airport: sneakers, stretchy pants with a comfortable top, rolling luggage (even if it is a Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite Pegase) and a bag that’s easy to carry hands-free. The bag, notably, is a Mulberry Alexa in purple and ivory animal print, which is a considerable stylistic departure from her sisters as well – they tend to prefer Birkins, Balenciaga and the occasional Celine. You go, Khloe. Do your own thing.

Hear me out, you guys: I kind of love Khloe Kardashian. I love that she’s constantly called fat or gross or a giant (she is none of those things) and has still somehow managed to restrain herself from stabbing Perez Hilton in the face for it. (In that regard, she’s a better person than I am.) She may or may not have a different dad than her sisters, and if she does, she ain’t talkin’. She’s kind of hilarious and also a little less flashy than Kourtney and Kim, which makes her easier for me to identify with. Plus, in a family of sisters who have chosen Scott Disick and Kanye West for mates, Khloe’s husband Lamar Odom is the clear winner.

Seriously, I just like Khloe! I even like her seriously ombre hair. Also, obviously, I’m a big fan of her summery, citrus-y Proenza Schouler PS1 Satchel in bright yellow. Bright bags always lend a good bit of visual interest to a neutral outfit, and her sky-high Jimmy Choo Platform Sandals pump things up even more. Well played, my dear Khloe.

In case you missed it (and what could you possibly have going on that would cause you to miss this vital piece of Kardashian breaking new?!), Lamar Odom got traded to Dallas. In Kardashian terms, that means that the one who’s married to him, Khloe Kardashian, is going to be spending a considerable amount of time in Texas very, very soon. Or maybe she’ll take a page from Kim’s book and get divorced. Who knows!

By the looks of things, though, Khloe’s in it for the long haul – the long haul to Dallas, at least. She and sister Kim Kardashian were spotted out shopping together for the first time in Khloe’s new town, and they brought some great handbags to impress the locals. Khloe, of course, brought out a beautiful cobalt blue Hermes Birkin, while Kim opted for a tasteful grey Balenciaga Giant Velo. Which bag do you prefer?

Or maybe she has her own, and she and Kim Kardashian are bag twins?

Last week, we wrote about Kim carrying a yellow lime (I still disagree with Hermes that this color has enough green in it to be categorized as a green) Hermes Birkin. And now here’s Khloe Kardashian, carrying a Birkin that’s, err, quite similar. Because Kim and Khloe differ vastly in height and build, the bag looks bigger on Kim, but I think they’re actually the same size. So what are the odds that the family owns two?

If you’ve ever watched an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, you know that the sisters tend not to share well. In fact, one entire episode centered around Kim and Kourtney fighting over a Chanel bag that Kourtney had grabbed out of Kim’s closet. So maybe Khloe and Kim are on better terms, or perhaps we have a sequel to that accessories fight coming up next season.

There are two problems inherent in trying to document the Kardashians’ fashion choice. First, they travel in packs. There’s always at least two of them, and usually more. At this Redbook event, all three sisters showed up, plus momager Kris, which makes for a lot of outfits to investigate. Second, their outfits are always elaborate. It’s not in the Kardashian handbook to simply put on a dress and a pair of shoes – there must be accessories! Blazers! Jewelry! All kinds of things! If you’re not wearing enough pieces of flair, Kris won’t let you leave the house.

At this particular appearance, all of sisters were dressed to the nines. Kim Kardashian was wearing a grey top and pants by Basil Soda, as well as her favorite black Christian Louboutin Daffodil Platform Pumps. Kourtney Kardashian kept things a little more simple but no less bold with a Jay Godfrey red jumpsuit. Khloe Kardashian, however, gets the award for most pieces of flair – she’s wearing a Zara button-down, Lanvin bow tie, Mara Hoffman skirt and Jimmy Choo Vivienne Embellished Platform Sandals. We know that Kris is so pleased.

I don’t care what you think of Khloe Kardashian, her family, their reality show or any of the media hoopla surrounding them. It still doesn’t get much cooler than having an Hermes Birkin that perfectly coordinates with your husband’s NBA uniform. Lamar Odom is a Laker, and that sure does look like Laker purple to me. Plus, the hardware is gold – kind of perfect, right?

While we’re talking about things that are kind of perfect, let’s talk about her Christian Louboutin Bridget’s Back Booties. I don’t even want to speculate at what these cost, but if their inclusion under the “Total Madness” category on Louboutin’s website is any indication, I can’t afford them.

Call me crazy, but I think Khloe Kardashian might be my favorite of all the Kardashians. Do you see how much of a badass she looks like in these pictures? She’s toting a purple Hermes Birkin with thigh-high Christian Louboutin Gazolina Boots and a totally comfy-looking poncho. Her sunglasses make me want to pull my aviators out of their storage case. She’s awesome. And also, very tall.

Not to give Kim Kardashian the short shrift, of course. It was her recent Hermes shopping spree that likely has the whole family running around New York with new Birkins, although Kim’s seems to be the same one she’s had for a while.

Most of you guys can probably tell this from my posts about them, but I’m kind of a fan of the Kardashians. I like Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami in particular, mostly because their relationship reminds me so much of me and my best friend. She and I both agree that I’m definitely the Khloe Kardashian of the relationship, and since she’s my favorite, I don’t have a problem accepting that title at all.

I’d be particularly eager to accept the title if it came with her wardrobe, particularly the Christian Louboutin Gazolina Thigh-High Boots and Adriana Castro Crocodile Modish Clutch she has in these photos. The Kardashians easily have the best accessories of any of the celebs I can think of off the top of my head, and for that, I’m glad they’re famous. Now gimme those Christian Louboutin boots and no one gets hurt…

The problem with the Kardashians is that we see them on red carpets and at events so often, what they choose to wear usually isn’t much of a surprise. Kim Kardashian has promised via Twitter to shake things up after the Zuhair Murad dress that she wore to the 2010 Teen Choice Awards was called too predictable by many people, but I’m not so sure that she’ll be retiring her one-shoulder black dress any time soon. Hey, at least it wasn’t her old favorite, Herve Leger.

Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian both looked lovely yet safe. Kourtney chose a nude Sass & Bide cocktail dress that looked a bit like the aforementioned omnipresent bandage dresses, while Khloe opted for a…wait for it…Herve Leger bandage skirt with Christian Louboutin Peep-Toe Pumps. As for Kendall and Kylie Jenner, does anyone know what they’re wearing? I couldn’t find much information about their outfits, although I like the choice of combat boots.

Is it just me, or are the Kardashian sisters walking in some sort of war formation through the airport in a few of these photos? They certainly seem to mean business…

As always, though, they’re looking hot. Even in an airport. How unfair is it to look hot in an airport? I’m one of those people who makes absolutely no effort when I fly – everything I wear is layered and stretchy, and almost always entirely black. Stretchy pants are my best friend on an airplane, and I don’t care what anyone says. It looks like at least Khloe Kardashian agrees with me, although her Louis Vuitton Patent Mahina Bag is super luxe, as are her Chanel Camelia Jelly Flip Flops.

It looks as though Kim Kardashian has again chosen her favorite Balenciaga City Bag for the trip, and if my eyes aren’t deceiving me, I’d bet that Kourtney Kardashian is carrying a Chanel Classic Flap Bag under her shawl, most likely in a large size.
