2011 SAG Awards: Mila Kunis wins best dressed

As soon as Black Swan‘s Mila Kunis emerged on the red carpet at last night’s 2011 SAG Awards, I knew that she wouldn’t be outdone. The SAGs are a bit less buttoned-up than the Golden Globes or Oscars because they aren’t as prestigious or widely watched, which allows actresses a bit of leeway when dressing for the event. That’s likely why we saw more print and loose hair on the red carpet last night than we did at the Globes a couple of weeks ago, and no one did that look better than Mila.

Not only is her Alexander McQueen gown utterly lovely on her, but it looks easy. Looking comfortable and at peace on the red carpet of a formal event is exceedingly difficult, but somehow, Mila managed to look like she could swan around Los Angeles in this gown all day, going grocery shopping and getting her nails done, and she would have looked totally natural. She’s wearing the dress, it’s not wearing her, and to great effect. View the Gallery →

Can you help us identify Mila Kunis’ black crossbody bag?

Well, you guys, we’re stumped. Stumped! Mila Kunis, who may star in some new movie called Black Swan but who I will always think of as Jackie from That 70s Show, has a black crossbody bag that she’s been trotting around town that’s not ringing any bells in this particularly empty head of mine. (Hey, it’s Friday. It happens.)

At first I thought it might be a newer version of the Linea Pelle Dylan bags, but the pockets and zippers are wrong. The look of the leather makes me wonder if it’s actually leather at all – it’s not out of the realm of possibility that this is from a “green” or “ethical” brand. Although her boots, of unknown original, look like they’re made of the real thing. Any information would be greatly appreciated, and it might even make my Friday. View the Gallery →

2010 Met Costume Institute Gala: Mila Kunis in Vera Wang

Mila Kunis completely pumped up the volume last night at the 2010 Costume Institute Gala in NYC. Her Vera Wang gown was fabulous. While the gown itself was gorgeous, there is no denying that it was also over the top. However, of any red carpet event throughout the year to go super glam, this has to be one of them.

Black and grey tumbled tulle twirled and swirled throughout the gown as if playing a game of cat and mouse. The black flower detailing broke up while adding some structure to the gown. I can definitely see how this could be one of the gowns of the night that has people completely divided. Regardless, Mila pulled off the look. What do you think? View the Gallery →

Fab or Drab? Mila Kunis in Monique Lhuillier

Mila Kunis Monique Lhuillier 1Tea length dresses are so incredibly difficult to wear, and as best as I can tell, that’s the most accurate definition of the Monique Lhuillier dress that Mila Kunis donned for the 2009 Emmy Awards on Sunday night. It’s not a ball gown, not a cocktail dress – at least in a certain sense, it’s an incredibly chic tutu.

And I kind of love it, at least because it didn’t look like anything that we saw on a sometimes-boring Emmys red carpet. The deep wine color is amazing with her skin tone, and the construction is a bit non-traditional, particularly when you consider the average dress worn to these types of shindigs. Risk takers are few and far between in the age of celebrity stylists and borrowed gowns and diamonds, so I appreciate that she did something different, and the length showcases her beautiful Salvatore Ferragamo platforms, which she paired with a VBH clutch. My only criticism is that she is already so petite, and the dress hits on a part of her leg that makes her look a bit…stumpy. But I might forgive that based on all of its positive qualities.
