Victoria Beckham's Bags and Style

Victoria Beckham‘s transformation from the Queen of the WAGs to a well-tailored fashion designer continues to surprise and delight me. Surely, Beckham’s success is in large part due to the talented team that she assembled to do the technical work for her, but considering how many celebrities can’t even both to do that part right in pursuit of a quick buck, I think Vicky B’s efforts are to be appreciated.

It’s very convenient for the company, of course, that the slender and always put-together former Spice Girl is a great billboard for her own product. Here, Beckham’s wearing a navy and orange dress from her own Spring 2012 runway collection, and that’s certainly a Victoria Beckham Leather Shoulder Bag that she has at her side. Personally, that handbag is among my favorite pieces from her collection; it’s just so ultra-structured, and I find the hardness strangely appealing.

Whenever I see pictures of Victoria Beckham, I’m always struck by how dour she looks. In taped interviews, she’s hilarious and very self-aware, but when a still camera turns to her, she just looks sad. Fashionable, but sad. But let’s focus on the fashionable part, ok?

Even while visibly pregnant, Vicky B. looks incredibly chic in these recent photos. It’s hard to believe that not long ago, she wore things like chaps and halter tops and looked like just another WAG; her transition from that to a legitimate fashion designer has been quick and stunning. I believe the dress she’s wearing here is of her own design, and I know for a fact that she’s carrying a Victoria Beckham Lizard Shoulder Bag. Her shoes, of course, are Christian Louboutin Daffodil 160 Pumps, which she seems particularly enamored of in recent months.

When you first think of a glossy, wine-colored crocodile Hermes Birkin, the first word that comes to mind probably isn’t “casual” and it certainly isn’t “cropped pants.” And yet, somehow, Hermes-lover Victoria Beckham manages to make her croc Birkin, which probably cost north of $25,000, fit this everyday outfit perfectly.

For Posh Spice in particular, this outfit is very, very simple. She normally binds herself up in lots of tailoring and fitted clothing, but instead, she’s wearing a slouchy white top mixed with slim, ankle-grazing pants, a silver scarf and aviator sunglasses. This is absolutely as casual as Victoria Beckham gets. Because she’s our Vicky B., though, she had to finish the outfit off with a pair of Christian Louboutin Platform Pumps. She wouldn’t be her without her heels.

So many celebrities have clothing or accessory lines of one type or another that it’s hard to keep up, particularly since almost none of them would never be caught dead wearing their own duds in public. Gwen Stefani is one notable exception to that rule, as is Victoria Beckham. Back in the halcyon days of the Spice Girls, I never would have guessed that one day I would lust over Posh Spice’s clothing line, and yet, that day is nigh.

Vicky B always looks so put together in public that who could help but be curious about her Victoria Beckham Handbags? She appears to be carrying two here in the same taupe leather – one day clutch, one almost comically large briefcase, both of which look like they’re beautifully made. What we know of Beckham’s ready-to-wear clothing is resoundingly positive, and I have a feeling that the reviews of her bags will be more of the same once they debut. Are you as confused as I am by the outfit Victoria Beckham wore to leave the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan a few days ago? From the knees up, she’s casual in cutoff shorts and an Etoile Isabel Marant striped sweater. Those things I understand – it’s everything else that perplexes me.

First, the pairing of a baggy striped sweater and casual shorts with Christian Louboutin Alta Bouton Ankle Boots is weird. Even for someone as committed to heels as Victoria Beckham, those are clearly not casual shoes meant to be worn with jean shorts. Also, what’s with the ginormous briefcase? I’m not sure if it’s from her newly debuted line or another designer, but it’s perhaps the biggest briefcase I’ve ever seen in my entire life. What could she possibly have in there, and why is she carrying it herself?

If you’ve seen the images from Victoria Beckham‘s runway show for her wonderful clothing line, then you already know the big news: Vicky B is getting in on the handbag game!

This seems like a natural step for her since the ready-to-wear line has been so well-received since its inception, and we all know that Posh is as famous for her bags and shoes (hopefully she’ll do shoes next!) as she is for anything else that she wears. I, for one, am incredibly excited to see her branch out into accessories and I hope her brand will continue to grow. It’s one of the few celeb lines in the world that actually manages to be relevant, and that’s an accomplishment in and of itself.

Beckham hit the streets after her show toting one of her own designs, and hopefully we’ll see her carrying more of her own bags in future days so that we can get a good look at the whole collection. Prices have yet to be announced. View the Gallery →

I’ve been an ardent supporter of nearly everything that Victoria Beckham has worn recently – over the past few years, her style seems to have streamlined and focused into something very sophisticated and luxurious, which her eponymous fashion line bears out. It’s been ages since we’ve seen her wear her leather chaps – I wonder if they’re still in the closet?

As it is, though, the combination of this Giles Deacon mini dress and her thigh-high boots just doesn’t do it for me. The dress by itself may have worked with different shoes, but the inclusion of enormous suede footwear is too distracting for me. What I like without qualification, though, is her Lanvin Oulala Satin Clutch. The navy color picks up the undertones of her grey dress, making it a much better choice than the black suede of her boots.

Per usual, when I can’t seem to figure out what a celeb is carrying I head on over to the PurseForum to see if any of those knowledgeable members can help me out. Thankfully, they came to my rescue just a few days ago with this particular bag.

When it comes to Victoria Beckham, it seems like almost 9 times out of 10 she carries a Hermes bag. But, every now and again, she pulls out a bag that is as fashionable as ever, but it just doesn’t have the Hermes logo you might have almost expected. Here, Victoria reached waaaaay back in her closet to pull out a bag she used to carry even back during her Spice Girls days. Victoria looked as posh as ever with her Louis Vuitton Bleeker handbag. It is so petite, just like her!

What a cute family photo op. Victoria Beckham and David Beckham took there kids to catch the free Jonas Brothers concert in LA not too long ago. The entire family looks great and of course, fashionable.

Victoria grabbed one of her go to Hermes Birkin bags to carry to the concert. The rest of her outfit wasn’t too bad either: Siwy Hannah jeans, Yves Saint Laurent pumps and a dazzling Rolex watch. I always wonder what it is like for Victoria to pick out an ensemble. And yes, Victoria wears ensembles, not outfits. Romeo, Cruz and Brooklyn all looked completely thrilled to attend the concert. What a fashionable family. Any chance the Beckhams are gonna try for another kid?

From what I understand, Himalayan crocodile is the most rare and coveted of the croc finishes that Hermes offers. It’s easy to see why – the color variation is subtle and gorgeous. Even more rare is an Hermes Birkin in Himalayan Croc with Diamond Hardware. And, well, I guess it’s also fairly obvious why that would be hard to come by.

If anyone would have one, though, it would be Victoria Beckham. She’s got one of the largest Birkin collections in the world and is regularly seen sporting ultra-pricey crocodile styles, so she probably has little trouble acquiring any Birkin that her little heart desires. And I hope it really desired this one – it reportedly retailed for $122,000.

What the heck is this world coming to? I had almost just decided that Victoria Beckham solely carried Hermes handbags and then this happened.

Ok, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but in all reality Victoria certainly carries Hermes more often than not. This time, the fashionista decided to switch things up with a Jil Sander bag. And you know what? I am glad she did. It’s always nice to diversify your handbag collection. It is no surprise that we cover Victoria Beckham quite often across all of the PurseBlog sites (including this one of course). However, I for one would greatly welcome more David Beckham coverage as well. Let’s just call a spade a a spade folks, he’s gorgeous. So, when I came across this batch of pictures, although the first one I saw had Victoria Beckham in the forefront, I couldn’t help but instantly notice David. YUMM-O!

He and his super fashionable wife were spotted spending some quality time together in SoHo while doing a little shopping. This wasn’t just any shop session. Both Victoria and David looked amazing as they walked around. I hope Victoria is nursing David back to health, but even with a boot on, he still looks great. Victoria doesn’t look half bad either in her Cutler and Gross sunglasses and sporting a dress from her own line, Victoria Beckham.
