Drew Barrymore Dazzles at the Emmys

The 2009 Emmy Awards were a force to be reckoned with. There were gorgeous gowns, flawless faces and admirable actors. But of all the things I remember, it was the known actors/actresses that continued to walk down that red carpet. For those of you who watched the awards you know that some of the celebs in attendance have seen their highs and lows. Drew Barrymore has been associated to her fair share of great movies, sticky situations and datable dudes. No matter what she’s been through, she knew how to pick out a gorgeous gown!

Drew wore a fabulous strapless gown by Monique Lhuillier. This gown boasted blush/rose tone hues, a structured bodice and a full skirt with just the faintest hint of beading. Ok, while I love the dress itself, I personally would like to see Drew wearing this dress in a shade that doesn’t mimic her skin tone quite so similarly. The dress is fabulous, Drew looks beyond glam, but the coloring is my one hangup. She carried the Raven Kauffman “Drew” Clutch… coincidence, I think not.

All in all this award season is bound to churn out great looks and I for one, can’t wait to see what is worn next.

Oh, Sandra, you look Divine!

The two hour Grey’s Anatomy season premier is this Thursday and you get bet your assets I am going to be watching. This is one of the (many) shows I can’t quit. Like most shows there are some episodes better than others, but I am hooked, totally hooked. Admittedly, I was not the biggest Sandra Oh fan at the beginning of this show. It wasn’t because of her in real life, but her character annoyed me. Yet, over the seasons she has softened up and I am beginning to appreciate her a bit more.

At the same time, I’ve seen some candid interviews and really precious moments with her and her family. So, onto more important things – like the gown she wore to the 2009 Emmy Awards show. Sandra looks absolutely stunning in her gold Marchesa gown while carrying a Marchesa Clutch and Jimmy Choo Clue Platform Sandals to boot.

The shimmer/metallic beaded look was huge at this awards show and Sandra pulled off the look flawlessly. While I would normally be anti-rope belt, I actually love it on her!

Jennifer Carpenter is a Dexter Diva

Hi, I’d like the new season of Dexter to start ASAP, mkaythanks. Honestly, I never watched the show until last year when various family members couldn’t stop talking about it. So, as I caught up with the seasons I had missed as well as all the celeb gossip surrounding the show, I loved that on-set brother and sister are actually real-life husband and wife.

Michael C. Hall and wife Jennifer Carpenter look fab and in love on the red carpet. Jennifer wears a gorgeous and intricate beaded gown by Zuhair Murad. Personally, I would love the gown so much more if the floral embellishment at the shoulder was taken off. Being as thin as she is, to the rest of us watching, the dress would hug her body so much better if the flower wasn’t there to distract us. But truly, the gown is lovely. It reminds me of old school Hollywood glamor and that is something I can always appreciate!

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian Grace the 2009 Emmy Awards

Are you enjoying the 2009 Emmy re-cap? We are beginning to wind down a bit but there are still several more amazing images I am thrilled to share. I am a huge fan of the Kardashian sisters and I think their style is pretty awesome. Sure there are some looks I like more than others, but both Kim Kardashian and preggo-eggo Kourtney Kardashian look extremely elegant as they glided down the red carpet.

Kim wore a great Ina Soltani dress that was both asymmetrical and spicy. One shoulder dresses and tops are huge this year and Kim pulled off an even more dramatic look – the one shoulder long sleeve. This is a look that is either amazing or horrendous – there is really no middle ground. And while you might not be able to see the rest, she is wearing Gucci Shoes and a Swarovski Clutch.

Older and preggy sister Kourtney looked stunning in a strapless navy blue BCBG Dress. Kourt looks absolutely stunning as a mom-to-be. Oh and one more thing… she wore Christian Louboutin shoes. It’s not that I don’t think you can wear super high heels when you are expecting, but I do find it worth giving some props.

Oh and one more thing. For any of you who watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and are familiar with mom Kris Kardashian, with these images of Kim, can’t you see a very striking resemblance? Kim’s facial expressions remind me so much of her mom – and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Fab or Drab? Mila Kunis in Monique Lhuillier

Tea length dresses are so incredibly difficult to wear, and as best as I can tell, that’s the most accurate definition of the Monique Lhuillier dress that Mila Kunis donned for the 2009 Emmy Awards on Sunday night. It’s not a ball gown, not a cocktail dress – at least in a certain sense, it’s an incredibly chic tutu.

And I kind of love it, at least because it didn’t look like anything that we saw on a sometimes-boring Emmys red carpet. The deep wine color is amazing with her skin tone, and the construction is a bit non-traditional, particularly when you consider the average dress worn to these types of shindigs. Risk takers are few and far between in the age of celebrity stylists and borrowed gowns and diamonds, so I appreciate that she did something different, and the length showcases her beautiful Salvatore Ferragamo platforms, which she paired with a VBH clutch. My only criticism is that she is already so petite, and the dress hits on a part of her leg that makes her look a bit…stumpy. But I might forgive that based on all of its positive qualities.

January Jones Goes Geometric with Versace

January Jones is no stranger to the runway. She is also no stranger to looking super fab. While attending the 2009 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, I would imagine that she was one of the celebs that could be seen from one end of the red carpet to the next. Her fair skin and light dress are such an amazing contrast against the bright red carpet.

The Mad Men actress looked flawless in this Atelier Versace gown. Although I don’t think I could pull of the geometric bodice, January certainly can. I am loving the look of the dress even more as my eyes follow the gorgeous, dramatic and feminine train. In addition to the contrast of the color of her dress and the red carpet, the contrast of the geometric bodice and feminine train come together like magic. She wore Jimmy Choo Keenan Platform Sandals and Neil Lane jewels.

An Entourage at the Emmys

I am a huge Entourage fan. There is something addicting about the show and I end up watching each episode multiple times. Oh and for the record, I absolutely LOVE Lloyd. He is fab-u-lous!

Well, many cast members, including my beloved Lloyd graced the 2009 Emmy red carpet and they all looked amazing. Jamie-Lynn Seigler wore a dazzling gold Donna Karan gown, Daniel Swarovski Clutch and gold accessories. Although she has perfect skin to go with this sparkly gold ensemble, it is just a bit over the top for me. Gorgeous – yes, a bit much – perhaps.

Blake Lively and her splendiferous rack are beautiful in Versace

Add another one to the short list of bodies I’d harm others for: Blake Lively. A lot has been said on various gossip blogs about the possibly non-natural origins of the Gossip Girl star’s chest, and she didn’t do anything to distract from that topic of conversation with her plunging-to-there, slit-to-here red Versace dress at the 2009 Emmy Awards. Just like a gaggle of other celebs, her shoes were Christian Louboutin.

I know some people have been hating on this dress and Blake for wearing it, and while it’s obviously a little Vegas-y (the light smattering of sequins doesn’t help), I’m not mad at her at all. If I had her body, you best believe I’d rarely ever make a serious attempt to cover it more than is required by law. And I also am not convinced that her chichis are fake – she’s not super thin, and I have a very petite friend with a very similar boobage situation going on. She’s just genetically blessed, and that’s obviously true of Ms. Lively in a variety of ways.

Heidi Klum is pregnant and perfect in Marchesa

Heidi Klum absolutely wrote the book on how to do maternity on the red carpet. No one has ever done it better than she does (or more often), and I doubt anyone ever will. Pregnancy? It’s her thing.

At Sunday night’s Emmy Awards, Klum wore a custom-designed Marchesa dress that was far more body-conscious than what most pregnant women wear in their third trimester. And it was utterly flawless – tailored perfectly, embellished at the bust, and a clear indication that Klum couldn’t be more proud to be pregnant and glamorous. And just because she’s ready to bust any minute now doesn’t mean she forewent amazing shoes – in true supermodel fashion, she teetered on Christian Louboutin heels all night.

Olivia Wilde Sparkles at 2009 Emmy Awards

I can’t imagine what it would be like trying to pick out that perfect gown for an awards show, but I have to say I wouldn’t mind seeing what it is like sometime. I wonder how many gowns a given celeb has to choose from on the day of the big event. No matter how many gowns Olivia Wilde had to look over, she surely picked a head-turner!

Olivia looked amazing in her blue, floral inspired gown by Marchesa. At first glance I was confused – wondering how the dress actually stayed on her tiny body. But, there is mesh that actually keeps the cutout detail that makes up the dress together. Take a look at how low the back of the dress goes. I think I would be a little nervous, but she pulls the look off. Add smoky makeup, drop earrings, Jimmy Choo Grant Satin Pumps and what is rumored to be a Tory Burch Clutch to complete her look.
