Ok, I’ll admit that of all the things in this photo, it’s probably not the Hermes Birkin that’s giving heiress and mansion-buyer Petra Ecclestone a case of the blahs. It’s probably whatever the crazy paparazzi is yelling at her and her friends. Have you ever witnessed a paparazzi scrum in person? Those jerks are LOUD! They’ll yell just about anything to get the object of their attention to look their way (and thus get a better shot), which means that they’re often rude and boorish in even more ways than [...]

As I mentioned to a commenter here last week, I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing black hardware from silver hardware in photos, particularly when it comes to the Hermes So Black Birkin. Paparazzi photos are generally taken outside (because no one will let a rude pack of photographers in their place of business, naturally), which means direct sunlight, a moving target, and usually a glare off of any shiny surface. That can make black hardware reflect light and look silvery, which throws off my whole bag-spotting game. Thankfully, it [...]

If you live in a place where spring has already arrived and decided to stay for a while (read: IF YOU DO NOT LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY), you might have noticed, whether you intended to or not, that brightly colored denim is a full-fledged trend. From pastels to red to floral patterns to all manner of neon, it seems as thought the only color your jeans shouldn’t be this season is blue. Unless they’re blue like Bethenny Frankel‘s cerulean skinnies, of course; then they’re totally acceptable. So much of [...]

I honestly have very little left to say about Kim Kardashian‘s collection of black Hermes Birkin bags, except that perhaps the one she’s carrying in these photos is new because it appears to have a glazed finish and palladium hardware, where in the past, we’ve seen her with black Birkins that are more matte and have gold hardware. So, you know, new Birkin alert! That’s exciting. What I’m more interested in, as I mentioned on Tuesday, is that Kim’s style seems to have become a tad more demure since she [...]

On the incredibly long list of Things I Don’t Care About, nothing is higher right now than “what people are wearing at Coachella.” In the words of the brilliant Sh*t Fashion Girls Say videos, everyone at Coachella looks like Pocahontas went to Burning Man, and I do not care to receive one more press release identifying some third-tier starlet’s pair of suede fringe shorts. First of all, suede fringe is going to chafe you something fierce when you wear it out in the desert sun all day, and second of [...]

With the news that’s surfaced about Bethenny Frankel‘s SkinnyGirl cocktail brand lately, it couldn’t be more appropriate that Frankel’s latest Hermes Birkin is as green as it could be – that’s the color of money, after all. The Huffington Post reported earlier this week that SkinnyGirl is the fastest growing spirits brand in the world, with total sales growing nearly 400% from 2010 to 2011. Bethenny sold her brand to Beam Global for a sum rumored to have topped $100 million last year, and because she’s still closely involved in [...]

For reasons that I can’t entirely explain, Kimora Lee Simmons came up in conversation between a friend and I the other day over lunch. I can’t remember why she came up, but the gist of the conversation was, wow, we’d like to have her life. She was a runway model and Chanel muse, she married a rich music and clothing mogul who was more attractive than average for those types of dudes, she had a long, profitable relationship with him and an even more profitable divorce (which, as I understand [...]

For some reason, I find the sight of the Kardashian clan heading into church highly perplexing. I mean, I know that somewhere inside of them all is a normal person who does normal person things like attend church on Easter, but how do they not all immediately catch on fire as soon as they enter the building? It seems as though they’ve all done enough horrible things to merit spontaneous combustion, if not as individuals, then at least collectively. The mind, it reels. Mild religious humor aside, the Kardashians all [...]

I am far from an expert on the subject of Hermes bags – I know a good bit, but the brand has so many leathers, sizes, colors and other variations even within a single handbag style like the Birkin that you have to be a diehard Hermes fangirl to really keep up. I have too much other miscellaneous handbag information floating around in my head to stay entirely current, which means that I have no idea what the color name might be for the seemingly fluorescent Hermes Birkin that British [...]

Or at least that’s what our photo agency says is inside the dove grey Hermes Bikin that Kim Kardashian recently carried to a hair appointment in Los Angeles. I’m not sure how they know that just from the little bit of stuff peeking out the top, but I’ll take their word for it, at least to discuss the larger topic of food in bags. Do you carry any in yours? I’m not particularly precious with my bags, but I try to only put dry foods inside them – nothing sticky [...]

We recently talked a bit about former Real Housewife and current beverage tycoon Bethenny Frankel has something of a penchant for Hermes handbags, and here she is yet again to prove me right. Is there anything more New York than hitting the sidewalk with a Hermes Evelyne slung across your body? I think not. I’ve always been somewhat partial to the Evelyne because it’s so functional, unlike so many of Hermes’ bags which are best left to those who can afford a car service. The Evelyne, on the other hand, [...]

I miss the seasons when Bethenny Frankel was on Real Housewives of New York. Love her or hate her (and I love her), she was always the show’s Greek chorus – she watched the other ladies and their ridiculousness in much the same way that the show’s viewers did, and often, it felt like her exasperation and humor was speaking for us. Now she’s on to greener pastures with her new show, Bethenny Ever After, but I long for the days when she was telling Kelly Bensimon how crazy and [...]
