It really is ironic- this Gucci purse has a picture of a snowman in a decidedly warm climate printed on it. But it’s not all senseless, you know; the print is meant to honor a new children’s book by Micheal Roberts entitled “Snowman in Africa”. The bag was created for the 2009 Gucci Campaign to Benefit UNICEF, and all proceeds from the book will go to UNICEF. For a bag brand that flies mostly under the radar to the majority of consumers, Gerard Darel certainly has graced the arm of a bevy of Hollywood’s biggest names lately. From Halle Berry to Jessica Alba, apparently everyone is carrying their bags lately. And I don’t blame them – they’re well-made of high-quality leathers and they don’t scream “It Bag” in obvious ways like some other brands do.

Just like I was saying yesterday about Cynthia Nixon, it is nice to see Sarah Jessica Parker being photographed outside of Sex and the City. And again, I have no problem with the ladies of Sex and the City, but it is lovely to see that these women have other things going on.

Over the past few weeks it seems to me like we have been carrying more of Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw rather than Sarah Jessica Parker herself. With all the filming of Sex and the City II there are so many pictures to share with you all, so I can’t help myself. However, I have to say, it is a bit of a breath of fresh air to see SJP as… herself.

I’m a Sex and the City obsessive, and when I’m honest with myself, even I didn’t love the first SATC movie all that much (I thought the consumerism was too shlocky – the whole thing about girl coming to NYC looking for “brands?” WTF?), so I was a bit dismayed when I first heard that they were making another one. I thought, why take something that had a lovely, safe place in the annals of pop culture and beat it into the ground for every cent it’s worth? [...]
Once again, a Sex and the City character carrying the same bag we’ve already seen her carry earlier. I remember hearing that there aren’t as many wardrobe changes during this movie as much as the first one. In part, this has to do with the current state of the economy, but I am sure that there will be a plethora of amazing looks to check out.
